Le lundi 1er juin 2015.

Bonjour chers parents,

I can't believe we are now starting the month of June.

Since the beginning of the school year, I have witnessed your child learning French and now being able to communicate so much better. The difference for some of them is absolutely impressive. Hard work always pays off. Thank you parents for being so supportive and helping me deliver the French Immersion Program. As you know, speaking French in today's society is very important. Also, French is an official language of Canada.

Friendly reminders:

This Friday, June 5th, is a PD Day. No school.

We will be going to the RA Centre on Riverside Drive for a fun filled day. We will be leaving school at 9:10 a.m. and returning at 1:15 p.m. Please sign and return the permission by Wednesday, June 3rd.

Merci beaucoup!!!

Bonne semaine!

Mme Mathieu

Bonjour,

Here is what we have learned and observed at the Parliament:

(Imad) Il y a beaucoup d'objets intéressants.

(Jacob I.) J'aime le Parlement.

On Wednesday, May 27th, Scientist in Schools will be introducing: 'Matter & Materials' for the Grade 5 students.

Bonjour,

It has been a while since I blogged. Time is flying and we have so much to do.

On Friday, May 15th, the Grade 5 had the opportunity to visit and tour the Parliament. They had a chance to see the procession of the President holding the Mass. They also visited the library & the Senate. Then, we headed to the Question Period in the House of Commons to listen to our Politicians discuss current events. After lunch, our MP David McGuinty came to speak to our students. What a great privilege for the students to have a private meeting with MP McGuinty. To finish our day, we had the chance to go up the Peace Tower and the Chapel. The students had a great day and learned so much. They represented SMY with flying colors. Tuesday, 21 April 2015

Le mardi 21 avril 2015.

Bonjour,

ANOTHER RAINY DAY!!!

Grade 5 & Grade 6:

Today, your child is expected to share his/her narrative baseline story with you at home. Once they have finished reading their story to you, please read the feedback that was  given to your child on Google Drive. Please brainstorm ways your child can improve, to bump up his/her story to the next level. Please comment directly on Google Drive to encourage your child to improve his/her story. Here are a couple major things you can focus on with your child: proper spelling, proper French verb conjugation and a clear introduction/middle/conclusion. You can have your child underline the verbs in one colour and adjectives in another colour to help the editing process.

If you do not speak much French, do not worry! At school, it has been explained to your child that they can translate their story to you in English, discuss the changes that need to be met, and then translate these changes back to French. The ability to explain their story to you, whether in French or in English, is absolutely necessary.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to work on your child's narrative baseline story. The skills they have/are developing while writing and editing these stories will definitely help them in the future!

Here is a helpful checklist to help revise your child`s story:

1. J'ai des phrases complètes.
2. J'ai des phrases variées.

Mme Mathieu & Mlle Sinclair
