HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Dear Parents,
We are now back! I hope you had a restful time with family and friends and ready to embark full force. There is 6 months left and so much to be done. If you speak French or have a family member, neighbour that speaks French, have your child converse as much as possible (20 to 30 minutes). The more your child is emerges in the language, the more your child will be comfortable to speak French, task risks and be confident. Learning a second language is all about attitude. Your child needs to put effort and commit in growing. French and English are Canada's two official languages. I encourage you to have conversations with your child about the importance of learning French. French will open opportunities for their future. I have several former students that come back to visit and explain how grateful they are of their French education. Some former students are presently going to University all in French. Reinforce the importance. You are their influence.
As mentioned last December in Language Arts, we are working on Procedural writing. In reading, have your child read 15 to 20 minutes and ask questions for reading comprehension. For listening, have your child reconsider, confirm or clarify by asking: ‘Je ne comprendts pas’, ‘Qu’est-ce que cela veut dire? In science, Grade 5 will learning: 'Forces acting on structures and mechanisms' and Grade 6 will be learning : 'Electricity and electrical devices'. In Social studies, Grade 5 will continue to study the aspect of early contact between First Nations and Europeans in New France to determine the ways in which different parties benefited. Grade 6 will continue to study the main reasons why different peoples came to Canada.
Your child needs to complete the following science homework in their science notebook.
